First Day of Spring
Yesterday was the first day of spring and we were greeted with about a foot of snow. This picture above shows you what we woke up to today after it snowed all day and night yesterday. It definitely does not feel like spring in our neck of the woods!

Little Green Thumbs
In honor of Easter and spring and the sprouting of new life and growth, I planted seeds with the kids. I found these cute egg shaped pink and blue pots and seed kit at Target and just had to buy them. Stella's is the pink one and has zinnia seeds and the Gup's is the blue one with Daisy seeds. We planted them about a week and a half ago (on 3/7/10) and within 4 days, Stella's first zinnia seed sprouted. Des's seeds started sprouting a week after planting. I finally took pictures today of their cute little pots and the sprouts inside.
These pots sit on the middle of our windows so that they can get the sunlight they need, but are away from the reach of curious little hands.
The instructions said to replant the sprouts into a bigger pot or in your garden when the sprouts reach about 3 inches in height.

GOAL!!!!
Stella scored her first goal in soccer today. WE ARE SO PROUD OF OUR LITTLE GIRL. Stella is the only girl on her team that is 4.5 years old; all of the other girls are around 5.5 years of age. Stella is the least aggressive of all of the girls on her team...she just doesn't like to be in the middle of a swarm of girls all trying to get the ball, which is kind of the point of soccer =;) So even if Stella has the ball, when all of the girls come at her, she just backs of.
But lately, with each game, we have seen her get in the mix more and more and going after the ball more and more despite the other girls who get in her face.
So today, when she kicked the ball into the goal, I don't think it registered right away. She watched the ball go into the net and looked at it for a few seconds and then she realized she scored her goal...her first ever goal in a soccer game...and she started jumping up and down, turned around to look at us on the sidelines with the biggest smile on her face and came running towards her Dada who lifted her up in the air for a big celebratory hug.
I so wish I had had my camera with me, but I didn't, so I have no pictures to show you of her big moment!
She is so proud of herself and has told us over and over how she scored a goal today and we are so, so happy for her!

Baby Bop and Robin, the Dynamic Duo?
Stella and Des tried out a new set of costumes from their never ending supply of dress up clothes today.
You have no idea how hard I laughed when Stella turned around and I saw her little dinosaur tail sticking straight out like this.

Painting is For the Birds
Like I said before, Stella loves all sorts of crafting, with painting being her favorite. After we came back from our trip to the playground and had a good nap, I let Stella paint the birdhouse we had purchased a while back, while Dada took the Gup to the car wash. Stella had a ball.
She first painted the body of the birdhouse all white. I was impressed with how good of a paint job she did. I then painted the roof and trim green. Stella then painted on green polka dots freestyle all by herself.
Now we just have to hang it up outside and fill it up with bird seeds.
At the Playground
We went to the nearby elementary school's playground after lunch today to play outside and to enjoy the beautiful weather we were having.
Dada had Des pose on a tree stump at first. Des decided to make bunny ears with his fingers and pretend to be a bunny.
I then tried taking pictures of Des with the beautiful blue sky as the background. But he didn't really care to look at the camera.
Stella was already off running and on the playground while we were taking pictures of Des. When we caught up with her, she and Des shared a ride on the tire swing.
Stella then tried out the sit-n-spin with a little help spinning from Dada.
Des wanted a turn too.
Stella then tried out the zip line.
Lastly, the kids had some fun on the slides.

Stella's First Loose Tooth
It's official. Stella has her first loose tooth. She told us today after dinner was finished and we didn't believer her at first but amused her by going along with it. Dada then felt her tooth to see and sure enough, it was loose. She was laughing at first and my reaction was "oh, no, I am sad because it's just another sign that my baby is growing up".
Stella then started crying by saying that she doesn't want to have a hole in her smile. I quickly had to change my song from I am sad to how proud I am of her and tell her all about the tooth fairy and make a great big deal about her loose tooth. She seems okay with it now.
But for the record, I am still not happy about this. Stella is not even 5 years old and she has her first loose tooth!
