Lights of the Ozarks

We went to see the Lights of the Ozarks today and it was so beautiful.  The historic Fayetteville town square (which hosted the Farmer's Market in the summer time) was transformed into a magical display of Christmas lights for the month of Dec.  Pretty much every square inch of the town square, from the grass to every single branch on every tree, were covered in lights and oh so pretty to look at.  We picked a perfect night to go because the weather was mild and it was not too crowded due to the fact that a lot of people were at home watching the Razorback football game. 

We tried our very best to capture the magic of all of the lights with our camera but these pictures don't do it justice! (Stella was not in a picture taking mood tonight, thus a lot of pix of Stella not smiling or looking at the camera.)

 They had a lit up carousel (not for riding on) that had the U of A's mascot, the razorback.  The razorback was present in lots of other areas throughout the square.

The kids favorite part of the night was riding around in the Cinderella pumpkin carriage ride around the town square.

Des was so funny, every time the horse "neighed" (while we were waiting in line and during the carriage ride) he would neigh too.  He imitated the sound very well and was very loud, startling nearby spectators with his "neighs" =:)

Other fun things included popcorn, cookies and hot chocolate for sale, pony rides, and believe it or not, camel rides.  We have a picture to prove it.

Our kids did not want to ride the ponies or camels, thank goodness!

This last pictures is especially sweet when Des gave Dada an impromptu kiss on the cheek.

Happy Thanksgiving 2009!

We did not travel anywhere for Thanksgiving this year and instead, celebrated it here at home in Arkansas.  Aunt Sil was nice enough to come visit us for the week and celebrate Thanksgiving with us.

Thanksgiving Morning

After breakfast Thanksgiving morning, Dada took the kids to the park while I stayed home to cook Thanksgiving dinner, with the help of Aunt Sil (who was spending Thanksgiving week with us).  As usual, Stella and Des enjoyed playing on the playground equipment.

Des is no longer afraid of the plastic alligator and dinosaur at the park =:)

Although the playground equipment was fun, Stella and Desmond had the most fun playing in the piles of leaves.

 Ahhh....to be a kid again....

Roo

The kids love our next door neighbor's cat Roo and he loves playing them. As soon as we go outside to play, Roo comes to play with us.  He is a very wild and active cat often going into the woods behind our house, climbing up trees, hunting anything and everything that moves.  Des has gotten scratched by Roo a couple times, but he still loves to play with Roo.  He has come inside our house many, many times but I don't let him stay inside our house too long since Dada is allergic to cats.  It's like having a pet without the responsibilities!

Yesterday, I fancied myself a photographer and decided to take advantage of the beautiful sunshine and took some pix of the kids while we were playing outside.  Here are some of my favorite ones.

Fun in the Sun

Weather has been so nice here for the past week and we have been outside every single day enjoying it.  Bright blue skies, mild temps, and plenty of sunshine...perfect fall weather.  What's not to love?  Here are some pics from our fun times outside.

 Stella is all about wearing dresses or skirts with tights these days and she doesn't care whether the tights go with the outfit or not.  In case you were wondering, she "pulled" this look all by herself!

  

Des had fun riding the tricycle and pushing Stella on it.

Stella would push/pull her Cozy Coupe up to the top of the hill in our backyard, and then get inside and roll all the way down.

 

 

Kicking the soccer ball and blowing bubbles is always lots of fun.
