GOAL!!!

Stella had her second soccer game of the season today and she scored her very first goal of the season early on in the game.  She took the ball from one end of the field all the way to the other end to score.  We are so very proud of her!!  She is getting better and better at soccer with each game by becoming less tentative and less afraid of getting in the mix with the other girls and going after the ball.  Unfortunately, we don't have pictures because Dada was videotaping the soccer game with his new HD camcorder.  If I can ever figure out how to get the video off of the video camera, I will post it here.

Tailgate Party

This Friday evening, we went to the Welcome Back Grizzlies Tailgate Party at Stella's school.  It's basically huge fundraiser for the school with food, desserts, music, prizes and games like giant inflatable slides and moon bounces for the kids.  When she got home from school, Stella was very excited about the tailgate party because her teacher had done a great job of hyping up the event to the class!
Stella loved all of the inflatable slides, obstacle courses, and moon bounces.  Our only complain was that the lines were very long, but the long wait was worth it for Stella as you can see by the huge smile on her face in the pix below.

Des went on one of the moon bounces, but the older kids that were in there were bouncing a little too rough for his tastes so he quickly exited the moon bounce.  We then took a dinner break.  Mmm, hot dogs...their favorite...followed by popsicles and chocolates!

By the time Des was ready to go on the moon bounce designated for smaller kids, the tailgate party was closing down and so the poor guy missed his chance.  Oh well, better luck next year!

Enjoying Our Backyard

One of our favorite things about our new house is the big, fenced-in backyard.  Unfortunately, ever since we moved in, the weather has been so unbearably hot that we hardly have spent any time outside enjoying our new backyard.  Tonight, the weather was a little more tolerable, so Dada turned on the sprinkler system and let the kids play in the backyard.  They loved it.

At one point, Desmond had to go pee, so he decided to drop trou right there in the backyard and take care of business!  Boys will be boys!

My Little Picassos

I want to share with you some drawings the kids have made recently.  I am so impressed with their creativity and the continued progression of their artistic skills.

First up are Stella's pictures.  She is so cute...she made this drawing for me and then went and taped it on my bedroom wall so that I can look at it every time I wake up =:)

Stella just recently learned how to draw stars and now can't stop drawing them!

This is one of my favorites.  At school, Stella recently learned about families as part of her social studies lesson.  After the lesson, the kids were asked to draw a picture of a family working, sharing, or playing together.  So Stella decided to draw a picture of herself and her future baby sister holding hands and playing together.  So, so, so sweet!  I asked her why she didn't draw Desmond and her response was:  "I don't know how to draw a boy's shirt!"  LOL!!

I am very impressed with this drawing.  This is Stella's drawing of Mickey Mouse.

Finally, here is a picture that my little Des drew of Stella today.  Notice the eyelashes.  He learned from his big sister that a girl must have eyelashes in order to be a girl =;)  This is the first time I have seen him draw body with arms and legs to go with a face.

Something Fishy Is Going On Here...

Des got to pick out a fish (a Betta fish) for being potty trained.  We did away with pull-ups for the waking hours in the day and he has kept himself dry and clean.  I am still fearful he will have an accident with poop, but none so far.  So, as promised, we went to Pet Smart today so that he can pick out a fish.  He was so excited.

Our plan was to get a goldfish that we can put in a simple little bowl with no filtration systems needed...as low maintenance as possible.  But the woman working at Pet Smart said that goldfish can't be placed in a tank without a filter, but a Betta fish can and that it's water would only have to be changed once a week.  So we opted for that.  Des picked out this beautiful green and blue male Betta fish.
