Be Still My Beating Heart

When I returned to the living room after a quick trip to the bathroom, this is what I found...the two of them cuddled up on the chaise watching TV together.  It was soooo cute...a soft, squishy, warm lump of cuteness on my chaise.  I was afraid that they would realize that they were hugging each other and would move away before I could get a picture, but I was able to get some.

Desmond, Our Little Van Gogh

Des is pretty good at drawing and I have been meaning to take pictures of his artwork but had not gotten around to it until now.  Compared to Des, Stella did not draw this well at this age.  Here are a few examples of his work.

This first picture was drawn back in April and it is a drawing of Roo, our neighbor's cat.  A few days after Des drew this picture, I was complementing him on how great of a job he did, the perfectionist in him looked at the drawing and said, "But I didn't draw the stripes on Roo".  Roo has orange stripes.

In other news, he also knows all of his ABCs...he can recite them and correctly pick them out even if they are not in order.  He also knows his numbers up to 15.  He can count up to 15 and correctly pick out individual numbers up to 10.  He also understands the concept of counting will count things out loud.  My little boy is growing up!

Flying High

While Amamma and I were preparing dinner this evening, Appachen took the kids outside to play.  They soon got their hands on the kite the kids got at Easter and broke it out for a test run.  This was the first time Stella and Des have ever flown a kite and they absolutely loved it.  Soon Dada came home from work and joined them in their kite-flying fun.

Mother's Day 2010

Mother's Day was relaxing and spent with the people I love the most (my husband, my kids, and my parents) and I am very grateful for that.  After a leisurely breakfast, we went to Lake Fayetteville for a stroll.  Of course, we had to stop at the playground along the trail around the lake.

The kids had fun talking to each other from either ends of the playground on this fun telephone toy.  Des also used it as a monkey bar to hang and swing from :)

Des loves climbing up this high ladder to get to the tall, twisty slide and he manages to climb it all by himself even though one of us is always nearby to catch him should he fall.

I regret not getting any pictures of me and the kids with Amamma (representing 3 generations) on this Mother's Day.  Oh well, maybe next year.

Amamma and Appachen Visit

Amamma and Appachen arre here visiting us this week.  It was so very nice to see them since it had been a long  time ( about 5 months) since we last saw them.  Appachen bought the kids a neat little toy called Bendaroos, which are basically wax coated strings in a variety of colors that can be bend into all sorts of shapes.

This toy provided hours of fun and entertainment for both kids and adults alike ;)  Here are a few pics of Stella, Des, and Appachen enjoying their new toy!

Desmond would take each bendaroo string and twist them together and he was just happy as a clam doing that.

Stella attempted to make more complex objects like flowers and spiders and she did a good job doing so.  When they were done shaping their bendaroos into objects, they would stick them on the wall like so.
