How Do I Look?
We have posted a lot of Desmond pictures lately and not much of Stella. That's because it is hard to get Stella to sit still and pose for pictures these days. We did manage to get these pics of Stella after she got her recent haircut and a bath. I guess this is what Stella would look like if she had straight hair.

The New Year
The first couple of weeks of 2008 was quiet busy for us. Desmond had his 2 month checkup on Jan 3rd and his stats are as follows:
Desmond also got his second haircut on Jan 7th (barely 11 weeks old) and this time he didn't cooperate as well. He does not like the buzzing sound of the clippers especially so close to his ears. The haircut was followed by a bath, another one of his least favorite activities. He was mad for quiet some time after his haircut, crying on and off for a couple of hours. Here are some pics of Desmond the day after his haircut when he was in a much better mood, cooing and kicking his legs in excitement.

The weather was unseasonably warm the second week of Jan here in the DC area and so Mama, Stella, and Desmond went for a walk to enjoy the warmer weather. Stella pushed the stroller with Desmond in it the whole entire time. The second week of Jan also marked a huge milestone for Smitha as she took Stella and Desmond out to a Mom's group meeting at church...the first time Smitha has ventured out in a car with both kids by herself! No pictures to post from the outing as Mama had her hands full to take any pics.
Weight = 12 lbs, 15 oz (75th %)
Height = 26 in (off the charts).
Then the first weekend of the New Year, Ommy and Papa came to visit us bearing lots of presents, especially for Stella and Desmond. We unfortunately didn't get any pictures of the kids with Papa but here is one of Ommy as she is hugging Stella goodbye. It was lots of fun seeing them.

Look Who's Talking
Much to our excitement, Desmond started to coo and talk over the holiday break. Experts say that you should imitate the sound the baby makes and take turns cooing back and forth similar to carrying on a conversation...something important for language development later on. These days, Desmond will start talking and won't let us get in a word edgewise sometimes. It is so fun for us to hear him cooing and talking and Stella thinks it is hysterical. Here is a video of Desmond cooing and trying to eat his fingers.
Xmas in NJ
Here are the long awaited pictures from our trip to NJ over the holiday break. The holidays marked several milestones for Desmond. Not only was this Desmond's first Christmas, it was his first long out of state car trip and he did pretty well. We also went out to eat at a restaurant with Desmond for the first time. Over the holidays, Desmond also started smiling and cooing and talking to us, which is so fun for us to watch. Stella had tons of fun playing with Amamma, Appachen, and Aunt Sil and opening all of her gifts. Since she loves puzzles, Santa brought her lots of 36 and 48 piece puzzles to challenge her skills.

It was a real challenge to get Stella to sit still during these family pictures. She kept squirming and trying to break free from her Dada's arms and eventually left.

Stella showing her appreciation to Appachen for playing the "numby" game with her whereby Appachen would hold her up to see the microwave anytime it was on so that she can count backwards with it. Stella has a passion for numbers. Out of all of the things in the house, the microwave was her favorite thing and anytime it was being used, she would hear it no matter where she was in the house and would come running saying "want to do the numby".

Happy New Year!
Sorry we haven't posted anything in awhile but we were out of town for the holidays and just got back early last week. We had a great time in NJ visiting with Smitha's family for Christmas and this past weekend, David's parents came down to visit and we had tons of fun with them as well. We just need to find time to download pictures onto the computer from our camera so that we can post some of them. So stay tuned for pictures from our holiday trip.
