Happy One Month Birthday Sasha!

Sasha turned one month old today.  I was going to make cupcakes to celebrate the occasion, but my sweet neighbor Emily made Christmas cupcakes and brought it over to us this evening.  Sweet!  It saved me from having to do it.  We sang Happy Birthday to her. 

Sasha was very tired and sleepy at this point and soon after the festivities, she fell asleep on my shoulder, while the rest of us enjoyed some cupcakes.

Guess Who?

While Aunt Sil was here, she and Desmond played a lot of board games together, one of which was the game Guess Who?.  First of all, Guess Who? is designed for ages 6 and up, so our little Des is a little young for the game, but he wanted to play it, so Aunt Sill obliged.  The results were downright hilarious!

First of all, Des has a hard time keeping the identity of the person he has selected a secret.  Kinda the point of the game.  As soon as he selects his person that Aunt Sil is supposed to guess through a series of questions, Des will announce, "My person is Andy."  Des would select "Andy" 90% of the time.  Even after we instruct him to not reveal the identity of his person, half through the game, he will have announced it.  It was so funny.

During one of the times I played with him, I asked him whether "his person had facial hair" to which Des responded, "Yes, my person has facial hair and my person is Andy!"  How can we not laugh at this?!?! 

Then another time, Des asked Aunt Sil, whether her person was a boy?  And when she said no, he correctly proceeded to knock down all of the boys until he got to certain individuals whose gender he was not so sure of.  The boys in question had red lips and sort of longish/curly hair.  So I think the red lips (which he associates with lipstick) and longish/curly hair threw him off.  Then he had to ask us, "Is this person a boy?"  Once we helped him out and knocked down all of the boys on his game board, his next question was, "Is your person a girl?"  Too funny!!!

During one game, Aunt Sil asked Des whether his person has blue eyes.  Following a similar line of questioning, Des then asked Aunt Sil whether "her person has white eyes?"  She and I were rolling on the floor dying from laughter at this point.

Even if Des doesn't play Guess Who? correctly all of the time, it is nonetheless very entertaining for all involved because when we start laughing at the stuff he says, Des starts laughing.  Oh, how I love this sweet, sweet boy!

More Visitors

Aunt Sil came to visit us today and she will be staying with us till Wed (Dec 15th).  Before bed, the kids were watching one of their shows on TV.  When Dada walked into the family room, he saw Des and Aunt Sil lying on the ottoman with Des spooning Aunt Sil.  He did this all by himself without any prodding from anyone.  Des loves him some Aunt Sil.

Twins

Some cute pics of Dada and his lil' girl before her bath.  It's hard to see in these pictures, but I think, out of all three kids, Sasha looks like David the most.  She has his coloring (skin tone, eyes, and hair), the same forehead, the same shape eyes, and similar noses.  The Indian contingency agrees with me.  When she was born, her hair and eye color really surprised us considering how dark Stella's and Des's hair and eye color are.  David keeps teasing me by saying that my Indian genes are getting weaker and weaker and his Russian genes are taking over.  He says that if we were to have a fourth child (which we are not), the baby would be blond and blue-eyed without a hint of any Indian traits.

Christmas Cutie

Our little Sasha hates getting undressed and dressed.  So whenever I have to change her outfit, I have to do it in stages where after I undress, I pick her up and calm her down before putting on her new outfit. 

Today, I managed to take some pictures of our splotchy little girl after I undressed her.

I tried to get a close-up of her pretty gray-blue eyes, but the flash makes her startle and bug her eyes out.

I put Sasha in one of her Christmas sleepers today.  Love the snowman feet.  She is our little Christmas Cutie! 

It's a Gingerbread Christmas

The five different Kindergarten classes at Stella's school put on a Christmas play today called It's a Gingerbread Christmas.  They put on two performances today.  One during the day for the rest of the school, as well as any parents who wanted to come and one in the evening, primarily for family and friends.  Since we have a three week old, David and I had to split up going to see Stella's play.  David went to see it during the daytime and I went in the evening.  David did videotape the play but since he was so far back, he said the footage and sound quality probably is not so great.  But luckily, we ordered the DVD that the school was selling of Stella's first play.

Stella and the rest of her class were "bakers" in the play.  The parents were given instructions to dress their baker in either red or green clothes from head to toe, outfitted with an apron and chef's hat decorated festively.  Stella and I had fun decorating her apron and hat for the play.

It was nice to be able to go with Stella and help her get dressed and prepped for the play.  Due to the pregnancy, I haven't had a chance to participate in many school related activities.  The parents and the kids met in the classroom prior to heading out to the auditorium.  I got to meet some of the other moms I haven't met before and they all kept telling me what a sweet, quiet, and well-behaved girl Stella was (a lot of Moms volunteer their time helping out in the classroom so they know her well).  I got to see first hand how quite Stella is when she is at school...totally the opposite of how she is at home.


When I got to the auditorium, I was shocked to see how packed it was...so packed that I didn't even get a seat.  I had to stand the whole time on the side.  I also didn't get any good pictures of the actual play because I took the small camera, which was running low on battery, so the flash kept dying, and the pictures turned out dim and grainy.  But I can tell you that the play was very entertaining, sweet, and funny and the kids all did an amazing job.

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree...

Even though we got our Chrismtas tree yesterday, we didn't have time to decorate it yesterday.  All we had time to do was set it up in its stand inside the house.  That's how it goes when there is a newborn around.  The kids were begging to decorate and so today, they got their chance.  Dada strung the lights, I strung the ribbon, and the kids put on the shatterproof ornaments.

 

As you can see, most of the ornaments ended up in clusters on the bottom half of the tree =:)  Normally, I am the one in charge of decorating the tree.  But this year, because of my responsibilities with Sasha, I was relieved of my duties.  All I did was string the ribbon on the tree and Dada, Stella, and Des took care of the rest.  Since I am retro-posting, I can tell you that it took several days for them to finish decorating the tree, but the kids had fun and we ended up with a beautiful Christmas tree.
